Vape Nicotine Strength Guide: 0mg vs 2mg vs 20mg vs 50mg
Choosing the right nicotine strength matters more than choosing the right flavour. Too strong and every puff feels harsh; too weak and you end up vaping constantly without feeling satisfied. This guide explains what the numbers mean, who each strength suits, and which vapes we stock at each level, from 0mg nicotine-free to 50mg.
Quick answer: which nicotine strength should you choose?
| Strength | Best for | Examples at Vape Marina |
|---|---|---|
| 0mg (nicotine-free) | Vaping for flavour and clouds only, or after stepping down to zero | HQD Miracle 8000 Zero Nicotine |
| 2–5mg (low) | Shisha-style, direct-to-lung vaping; light or occasional vapers | Sultan Shisha 100K (2mg), Pod Salt Shisha 8000 (3mg), Pod Salt Onyx Cloud 25000 (5mg) |
| 20mg (medium) | Most former light-to-moderate smokers; anyone who finds 50mg too harsh | RELX Ace 20000, RELX Peace 25000, Pod Salt Pearl Pro 10000 |
| 50mg (strong) | Former heavy smokers and experienced vapers who want a strong hit | WAKA Blast 50000, WAKA Blade 50000, Geek Bar Watt 23000 |
What do “mg” and “%” mean on a vape?
Nicotine strength is the amount of nicotine in each millilitre of e-liquid. 50mg means 50mg of nicotine per ml and is usually shown as 5%; 20mg is shown as 2%. So a 50mg disposable has two and a half times the nicotine concentration of a 20mg one.
Concentration is not the whole story. How much nicotine you take in also depends on how often you puff, how hard you draw, and the device’s power. A 20mg device used all day can deliver more than a 50mg device used occasionally.
Nicotine salt vs freebase nicotine
Most disposables and pod e-liquids use nicotine salt, which is designed to feel smoother in the throat at higher strengths like 20mg and 50mg. Larger bottles of e-liquid for sub-ohm and cloud-focused devices usually use freebase nicotine at low strengths such as 3mg, because freebase feels harsh at high concentrations.
That is why you will see two very different types of e-liquid in our e-liquid range:
- Nicotine-salt pod liquids (30ml): for example Pod Salt Core 30ml (20mg) and VGOD Saltnic 30ml (25mg and 50mg), made for refillable pod kits.
- Low-nicotine 60ml liquids: for example Pod Salt Subo 60ml and Nasty 60ml (3mg), for bigger-cloud devices.
0mg: nicotine-free vapes
A 0mg vape gives you the flavour, the vapour and the hand-to-mouth habit without any nicotine. It suits people who vape purely for taste, and vapers who have gradually reduced their strength and want to keep vaping at zero.
Our nicotine-free option is the HQD Miracle 8000 Zero Nicotine: up to 8,000 puffs, a dual mesh coil and 15 flavours, from Cola and Vanilla Tobacco to Strawberry Kiwi.
2–5mg: low nicotine for shisha-style vaping
Low strengths are built for direct-to-lung (DTL) vaping: big, deep draws like pulling on a hookah. At high strengths, DTL draws feel very harsh, so shisha-style devices keep nicotine low and focus on flavour and clouds.
- Sultan Shisha 100K: 2mg, up to 100,000 puffs, triple mesh coil, classic shisha flavours like Double Apple and Lady Killer.
- Pod Salt Shisha 8000: 3mg.
- Pod Salt Onyx Cloud 25000: 5mg, direct-to-lung.
20mg: the balanced middle
20mg (2%) is a common starting point for people moving from cigarettes to vaping who were light-to-moderate smokers, and for vapers who find 50mg too strong. It is used with a mouth-to-lung (MTL) draw: you hold the vapour in your mouth first, like a cigarette.
- RELX Ace 20000: three power modes (Boost, Smooth and Eco) to fine-tune each puff.
- RELX Peace 25000: slim body, adjustable airflow, flavours including Lush Tobacco and Cappuccino.
- Pod Salt Pearl Pro 10000 and Vozol Gear 10000: 20mg everyday disposables.
50mg: strong nicotine
50mg (5%) is the strongest level we sell. It suits former heavy smokers and experienced vapers who want a strong, satisfying hit from fewer puffs. If you are new to vaping or did not smoke much, 50mg is likely to feel too harsh; start at 20mg instead.
- WAKA Blast 50000: up to 50,000 puffs, Turbo mode and an Ice Blast cooling function.
- WAKA Blade 50000: 3 power and nicotine levels, 24 flavours.
- Geek Bar Watt 23000 and MYLE Turbo 20000.
How to tell if your strength is wrong
- Too strong: harsh throat hit, coughing, feeling light-headed or slightly sick. Move down a level, or take shorter puffs.
- Too weak: you keep reaching for the vape and still feel unsatisfied. Move up a level, or choose a device with more power.
Stepping down gradually
Many vapers reduce their nicotine over time: from 50mg to 20mg, then to a low-strength device, and finally to 0mg. Because we stock every level, you can keep the same style of device and move down one step at a time.
Frequently asked questions
Is 20mg or 50mg better for beginners?
For most people new to vaping, 20mg. 50mg is designed for former heavy smokers and experienced vapers.
Do you sell nicotine-free vapes in Dubai?
Yes. The HQD Miracle 8000 Zero Nicotine is 0mg, with up to 8,000 puffs and 15 flavours.
What does 5% nicotine mean?
It means 50mg of nicotine per ml of e-liquid. 2% is 20mg per ml.
Why are shisha vapes so low in nicotine?
They are made for big direct-to-lung draws. At high strengths those draws feel very harsh, so shisha-style devices use 2–5mg and focus on flavour and clouds.
Can I choose the strength on a disposable?
Each disposable comes in a fixed strength. A few models, like the WAKA Blade 50000 and RELX Ace 20000, let you change power settings, which changes how strong each puff feels.
